Who we are
Nerd/Noir, LLC is a consultancy based in Georgia, USA. This policy covers nerdnoir.com. Nerdy, our field manual at nerdnoir.ai, has its own privacy policy (opens in new tab). Our newsletter and podcast are on Substack, and we also post on YouTube and LinkedIn. Those services apply their own policies.
What we collect
- Email you send us. If you write to hello@nerdnoir.com or team@nerdnoir.com, we keep your message, your name, and your address.
- Visit data from HubSpot. HubSpot's tracking code records the pages you view, when you view them, the page that sent you here, your browser and device, and an approximate location from your IP address.
- Aggregate analytics from Vercel. Vercel Web Analytics counts page views, and Vercel Speed Insights measures how fast pages load. Neither one sets cookies or follows you to other sites.
- Server logs. Vercel, our host, logs each request with its IP address and browser details to keep the site secure and running.
This site has no forms and no ads.
Cookies and local storage
HubSpot sets cookies that count visits and recognize your browser when you come back. They last up to six months. HubSpot lists each one in its cookie documentation (opens in new tab).
The site also saves your theme choice, and whether you closed the cookie notice, in your browser. That data never leaves your device.
We set no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking cookies. We host our own fonts, so no font service sees your visit. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site works without them.
How we use it
We use this information to reply to you, to learn which pages people read, and to find and fix pages that are slow or broken. We don't sell personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Who processes it
- HubSpot (opens in new tab) stores the visit data and our contact records.
- Vercel (opens in new tab) hosts the site and runs Web Analytics and Speed Insights.
We share data with anyone else only when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
HubSpot cookies expire on the schedule above. We keep email and contact records while we work with you or stay in touch, and we delete them when you ask. Vercel keeps analytics and logs for the periods its own policy sets.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email team@nerdnoir.com and we'll reply within 30 days.
If you live in the EU, the EEA, or the UK, the GDPR also gives you the right to object to how we use your data and to complain to your data protection authority. If you live in California, the CCPA gives you similar rights.
International visitors
We're in the United States, and HubSpot and Vercel process this data in the United States. If you visit from another country, your data goes there.
Children
This site is for working professionals. It is not for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
When we change this policy, we change the effective date at the top of this page.
